IBPS stands for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. Banking Sector offers lucrative career in India and the most talked about career. Every aspirant has to go through the IBPS exams to get a job in public banks. IBPS exam is conducted every year for recruitment of employees for all public sector bank. IBPS score is called CWE score and it forms the basis of recruitment along with  group discussions, and personal interview. The CWE score has a validity of 1 year only. The exam is conducted in the 3rd week of September and application forms are available till first week of August. Before sitting for an entrance exam one must have every detail about the exams especially eligibility criteria, exam patterns, syllabus, and preparation of the exam.

Eligibility Criteria

First of all, check whether you are eligible for the exam. Here are the eligibility criteria

  • All Indian nationalists between the age of 20 to 30 years can apply.
  • All valid degree holders are eligible, both graduates and post graduates of any stream can apply for the course.
  • Reservations for SC/ST/OBC/ physically disabled candidates, according to the reservation quota.

Applications are available online and in public banks as well. Every aspirant must apply for the examination before the last date otherwise applications won’t be accepted. Application fee of INR 450 for general and INR 50 for reserved.

IBSP paper pattern

The paper consists of two sections, Objective and Descriptive. The Objective section consists of 150 questions which must be completed within a time span of 150 minutes and it carries 225 marks. The descriptive section is of 25 minutes and candidate will be given 60 minutes to complete this section.   The objective section will have questions from logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. The descriptive section consists of general English question on banking, insurance, and investment sector.

Preparing IBPS Exam

The preparation has to be top-notch and a candidate must start his or her preparation a year earlier before sitting for the exam. The intake depends on the number of vacancies and this is the chief cause behind the ruthlessness of this entrance examination. Competition will be of high standards as the candidate has to the clear the written test followed by GD and personal interview. Before starting your preparation every aspirant must analyze their intelligence quotient. Planning is very necessary and  candidate must plan their preparation which must have include the following points.

  1. Completion of syllabus- Within 5-6 months you must complete your syllabus. Initiate with your strongest subject and keep on revising it until you are well prepared. Everyone has a weak section and you must make sure you complete that as well.
  2. Revision- revision is an important section of every competitive exam and you must revise every chapter.
  3. Mock test- Before giving the actual examination sit for mock test week in and week out.  Mock test must be given at last when you have completed your syllabus. Mock test is necessary for you check your speed whether you can complete the entire paper within time. It is also necessary to understand your weakness before sitting for the exam and mock test will clear everything.
  4. Last minute suggestions- You must read every suggestions from previous pass out candidate and it is better to know certain valuable points before sitting for the exam.
